12 Things that can swallow a man’s destiny

Twelve things can swallow a man’s destiny, out of which I will list six today with a promise to continue from here next time as the Lord permits.

1. Covenant
2. Altar
3. Arrows from rivals
4. Demonic spirit
5. Disappointment
6. Inherited ancestral battles

Our focus today is on the altar, which, when misused, can become a source of peril rather than a sanctuary of blessings. In the book of Deuteronomy 12:11, we are reminded that the altar is a holy place, not to be defied or disrespected. It is a secluded space where the penalty for disobedience was death. The altar is a haven where God’s judgment prevails, be it for good or ill. While the practices of offering sacrifices on the altar have evolved, the essence remains—the altar is a place where the manifestation of God’s glory is paramount.

Among the myriad factors that can potentially swallow a man’s destiny, the altar holds a pivotal role. In our spiritual journey, it is crucial to understand the essence of the altar, for it is not merely a physical structure but a symbol of God’s divine manifestation. The altar, as described in Deuteronomy 12:27, is a place of offerings. While traditional sacrifices may no longer be the norm, the altar has not lost its significance. It is disheartening, however, to witness the misuse of the altar in contemporary times—where some seek to exploit rather than honor its sanctity.

Let us consider seven essential facts about the altar:

  1. Blessing and Curse: Deuteronomy 11:27 reminds us that there is a blessing attached to obedience and a curse to disobedience. The truth is found in God’s word, amidst the sea of false teachings. Let us anchor ourselves in His truth.
  2. The one making the sacrifice on the altar is very important: When imperfect individuals stand on the altar, resist the urge to judge them. Instead, focus on the message delivered through the spirit of God. Remember, the message is greater than the messenger, and we must not disrespect those making sacrifices on the altar.
  3. The Sacrifice on the Altar: As Deuteronomy 33:19 suggests everything we have can be offered to God. However, these offerings must come from a place of righteousness and joyfulness, willingly given without coercion.
  4. The covenant with which the altar was established: The altar is established with a covenant that echoes throughout the ages. The covenant with which the altar was established holds immense power. Just as the covenant of the Ark spoke for the children of Israel, the covenant on the altar is potent and influential.

As we continue this spiritual journey together, let us be mindful of the sanctity of the altar. The misuse of this sacred space is prevalent in our time, and we must strive to redirect its purpose. The altar is meant for God’s manifestation, not for the destruction of His people.

In the forthcoming sessions, we will continue our exploration of the altar, uncovering more profound truths that will illuminate our spiritual path. Let us strive to be vessels of God’s grace, utilizing the altar as a conduit for divine manifestation in our lives.

May the blessings of the altar be upon you, and may your destiny be safeguarded through the grace and mercy of our Lord.
