Lord help me! I have tarried on this mountain

Introduction
Life is a journey filled with questions that shape our existence, purpose, and destiny. Many wander through life without understanding who they are, why they are here, or where they are going. These are the reasons why many tarry on a mountain for a long time. However, the Word of God provides answers to these fundamental questions. Today, let us reflect on five crucial questions that every person must answer to live a fulfilled and purposeful life.

  1. Who Am I? (Psalm 49:20; Matthew 16:13-17; 1 John 3:1-3)
Your identity defines your life. Many live without understanding who they truly are, leading them to conform to the patterns of the world. Jesus asked His disciples, “Who do people say that I am?” and then directed the question to them personally. Our true identity is revealed in God. You are not defined by your past, mistakes, or circumstances but by God’s divine plan for you. If you don’t know who you are in Christ, you will live beneath your potential. Recognise that you are a child of God, created in His image and called for His purpose.

  2. Where Am I From? (Joshua 24:14-15; Psalm 63:1)
Your source determines your strength and direction. Some allow their background and challenges to define their future. However, as believers, we must understand that we come from God. Our physical lineage may have limitations, but our spiritual heritage is rooted in the Almighty. No matter the challenges of your upbringing, your true origin is in God, and with Him, all things are possible.

  3. Why Am I Here? (Hebrews 10:7; John 4:34; John 1:7; Jeremiah 29:11)
Every individual has a divine purpose. You are not here by accident; God has a plan for your life. Many fail to discover their purpose because they are not diligent with the gifts and talents entrusted to them. The gifts God has given you are meant to serve His kingdom and impact others. Life is fleeting, and each day brings us closer to eternity. Will you fulfill your God-given mandate, or will you waste the opportunities given to you? Pursue your purpose with zeal, for you will one day give an account of how you lived.

  4. What Can I Do? (Acts 13:36; Philippians 4:13; Jeremiah 1:7; Exodus 4:10; Matthew 25:18-30)
God has endowed every person with abilities and potential. Your prayers are powerful, but they must be followed by action. Many complain about their situations without taking steps to maximize their God-given abilities. Stop saying, “I can’t,” and start believing that you can do all things through Christ. Your profession, skills, and gifts are not random; they are tools for fulfilling your purpose. Even if you feel insignificant, be faithful with the little you have, and God will increase it. Do not bury your talents—use them for His glory!

  5. Where Am I Going? (1 Corinthians 15:19)
Life does not end here; we must consider our eternal destination. Many seek success on earth but neglect their spiritual journey. What will be your fate at the end of your life? Are you living each day in preparation for eternity? It is not enough to pray, fast, and read the Word—you must also align your life with God’s will. Seek first the kingdom of God, and everything else will follow. Live with eternity in mind, knowing that one day, you will stand before God to give an account.

Conclusion
These five questions should shape our daily decisions and focus. Who are you? Where are you from? Why are you here? What can you do? Where are you going? Answering these questions through the lens of God’s Word will lead to a purposeful and fulfilling life. Do not live aimlessly—embrace God’s plan, pursue your calling, and prepare for eternity. May the Lord grant us the grace to fulfill our divine assignments in Jesus’ name. Amen!
