The calling of God

Dear beloved congregation,
Today I stand before you to speak about the calling of God, a sacred and powerful force that every soul must heed. Let us cast away all doubts and fears, for when we work for God, it is not by our strength, but by the divine guidance and grace bestowed upon us. We must cast aside shyness, boldly testifying about His mighty works.
In our world today, many have lost sight of the uniqueness and significance of God’s call. Instead, they chase after personal interests and selfish desires. The ministry has been tainted by those who were never genuinely called but entered for their gain. We must be vigilant and recognize that God’s calling upon our lives is of utmost importance, and we must be obedient to the instructions that accompany it. 2 Tim 1:8-9.
In our journey of faith, there are three crucial points to remember about God’s calling:
- God calls despite the lack of credentials or abilities, 1 Cor. 1:26-29.
His divine call is not bound by our qualifications or perceived limitations. Just as Moses was a stammerer, God saw him as the perfect instrument for His assignment. When God calls you, He knows you intimately, even from your mother’s womb. Do not underestimate His wisdom in choosing you. I have witnessed uneducated individuals preaching the gospel with eloquence and vibrancy in English. The key is obedience and the avoidance of procrastination, for tomorrow may be too late. Remember, your call is not for worldly gains, but rather to fulfill God’s purposes, which come with specific challenges. - God’s call is based on our availability, not our ability, Isaiah 6:8.
When God calls, He asks us to surrender ourselves fully, setting aside our pride and self-sufficiency. He does not seek those who think they know it all; rather, He desires humble hearts willing to be filled with everything needed to accomplish His mission. Embrace your imperfections, for God will teach and equip you along the way. He keeps us in certain places to prepare us for the challenges ahead. We need not wait until we feel perfect, for God will teach and equip us for His mission. Every one of us, regardless of our background, will be equipped by God to fulfill the tasks He has set before us. - God’s call comes with a price, 1 Cor 6:19; Luke 17:21.
When God wanted to uplift Abraham, he requested for Isaac, just to test him. We must be prepared to sacrifice and obey. Surrendering to God’s will requires sacrifice, but the rewards are beyond measure. A person called by God is forever transformed, receiving spiritual strength and enduring joy that fills their heart. Know that God has a plan for each one of us, trust in the Lord’s plan, for He knows how to accomplish His purposes through you, and we cannot thwart His divine purpose.
God kept me in an unknown position to know certain people for them to know God through me… Prophet Akintunde Akinniyi
The Lord is calling on each of us today. Have you heard His voice? Do you know where He is leading you? Remember, your strengths and weaknesses do not determine your eligibility. God kept me in an unknown position to know certain people for them to know God through me, hence every achievement I have is attributed to him. Don’t wait until you are perfect. God qualifies the unqualified, and He will equip you for the task at hand. Remember, God knows how to draw you closer to Him. Don’t wait until the situation becomes dire like it did for Paul. Instead, surrender yourself wholeheartedly to God’s call. He is faithful to fulfill His promises if we remain obedient to His Word.
Do not delay, for tomorrow may be too late. Embrace the divine calling of God and let His purpose be fulfilled through you. Next time I will continue with “Identifying your call”. May you find strength in Him and experience the joy that comes from answering His call.
Amen.
