What Does the Death and Resurrection of Christ Mean to You?

Dear beloved congregation,
Today, we gather under the light of His grace to talk about the significance of the death and resurrection of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Let us reflect on our lives and the lessons ingrained within the sacred scriptures. Just like the Israelites of old faced trials and tribulations, forgetting miracles in the past, we too often find ourselves losing sight of the divine purpose behind Christ’s sacrifice. Many among us lack patience and perseverance, faltering in our faith when faced with adversity.
The lack of perseverance and patience can lead us astray, just as it did for many Israelites who fell victim to the serpent’s bite. Let us heed this warning and nurture the virtues of perseverance and patience, for our appointed time is near.
In Matthew 14:26, we’re reminded of the common journey where individuals follow Christ without clear goals and visions aligned with God’s plan. Do you know your goals and visions for 2024? The death and resurrection of Christ hold immense importance, yet without understanding, our faith may waver. Let us examine our hearts and minds as we ponder the goals and visions we have set for ourselves in 2024. Are we driven by divine purpose, or consumed by fear and doubt? Like Peter walking on water, our faith falters when we lose focus on Christ and succumb to fear. But remember, God does not favor a doubting mind.
If you don’t chase your goals, something else will chase you. – Prophet Akintunde Akinniyi
We have been granted authority through the death and resurrection of Christ. However, to receive this authority, we must cultivate certain qualities:
- Perseverance: Endure patiently, for your appointed time is near.
- Goals: Set clear goals aligned with God’s plan, and chase after them with determination. Remember, if you don’t chase your goals, something else will chase you.
- Patience: Trust in God’s timing, for He works all things for our good.
- Courage: Do not be paralyzed by fear, for we are imbued with courage and a sound mind.
- Faith: Let our faith be unwavering, for, through faith, mountains are moved.
- Confidence: Cast away doubt, for it hinders our blessings and undermines our faith.
In conclusion, the book of Revelation declares, “I come quickly to reward everyone according to their works.” What is your work before God? What unique offering do you present to Him that you can challenge Him with in times of trial? Let us reflect on our lives and commit to change before it’s too late. Let us draw near to God with hearts full of faith and courage, knowing that through the death and resurrection of Christ, we have been given the authority to overcome every obstacle.
May the grace and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
